A Woodland Heritage Sawmill

The UK tree charity, Woodland Heritage, believes that sawmills are a crucial part of the British timber industry, so when the opportunity arose they acquired Whitney Sawmills in 2016.

It is estimated that currently only 6% of hardwoods used in the UK are sourced from Britain, the large majority being imported from Europe. At the same time only 40% of our mixed broadleaf woodlands are currently managed and it is this lack of woodland management that is creating the greatest threats to many endangered species.

Whitney Sawmills follows in Woodland Heritage's ethos, and aims to promote the use of sustainable British grown timber from managed native woodlands.
