Andy Dix is a lifelong cyclist, an engineer and, for the last twenty years, a furniture maker. Four years ago, he decided to mix his passion with his proficiency and he founded Twmpa Cycles, then the UK’s sole ash bicycle frame builder. Today, Andy buys all his Ash from Whitney Sawmills.
Whitney Sawmills is looking for an experienced sawyer who can operate both the main Mebor saw line and the Forrestor horizontal saw, as well as having the willingness to learn other aspects of the operations of Whitney Sawmills to enable the business to be run as flexibly as possible.
We need a trainee sawyer and sawmill operative to join us and help support and grow the business. The trainee sawyer will, with development and training, be able to operate our log sawing and resawing equipment and contribute to the effective operations of the mill. Previous experience of sawmilling equipment is not essential, but other relevant transferrable skills, such as working with machinery, and flexibility in a busy working environment and with a small, focused team, will be necessary. Full training will be given for the suitable applicant.
