Dumfries House Project
Green Oak beams supplied by Whitney Sawmills for a project by Jonny Briggs Joinery, used in a educational project for Dumfries House.

The Restoration of HMS Victory

A Whitney Sawmills buyer was asked to visit and select suitable trees subsequently to be sawn at Whitney Sawmills, prior to delivery to Portstmouth Docks.
After several years of seasoning, this sawn timber will be used in various repairs, including the reconstruction of numerous gun carriages.
The Construction of Gloriana
Following many conversations with master boatbuilder, Mark Edwards MBE, Whitney Sawmills was asked to supply a quantity of Herefordshire Sweet Chestnut timber for the construction of the 90ft rowbarge, Gloriana, to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Sweet Chestnut being both durable and light in weight, was judged to be ideal for a rowed vessel of such a size.
Only Whitney Sawmills was able to supply the quantity needed to the high specification demanded.
Edinburgh Castle
The Royal Apartments & Kings’s Dining Room - During 2 years of collaboration with J.Nethercott & Co., Whitney Sawmills was able to meet all the exacting specifications of Oak required for this prestigious project. Quantities of wide, quarter sawn English Oak boards were cut from trees sourced from a single Herefordshire estate.

Llwyn Cellyn
Llwyn Cellyn is typical of many of the Green Oak building refurbishment projects that Whitney Sawmills gets involved in. A large farmhouse with stone barns that has been totally refurbished over 2 years into 1 private dwelling.
