ENGLISH CHERRY

Prunus serotina

Cherry is one of the few fruit woods commercially used in the UK for both furniture and joinery. The natural, warm luster and attractive grain of English cherry set it apart as one of the most luxurious species from our native forests.

Cherry Works well, but this is dependent on the type of grain present; cross grained material tends to tear, and a cutting angle of 20° is needed, but straight grained material finishes well. It is a good turnery wood, and takes stain and an excellent polish.
